Statement:


This project emerges as both a pedagogical platform and a research-driven mechanism, designed to foster environments with the critical modes of theoretical reflection cultivated in the university setting. Recognizing the urgent necessity for a dialogic exchange within education, the initiative resists the reduction of either practice or theory to a mere service function. Instead, it positions them as interlocutors—mutually agitating, interrogating, and enriching the surfaces of each other’s methodologies. 

Building on this foundation, the project developed within the Photography Department at LCI Barcelona takes these pedagogical commitments further by critically interrogates the pluralities of art histories, foregrounding the multiplicity of narratives, methodologies, and positionalities that shape our engagement with History. Recognizing that art histories are neither monolithic nor linear, but rather constituted by diverse actors, stories, and absences, the class operates as a collaborative, peer-driven laboratory where temporalities and trajectories are continuously negotiated and reimagined. Embracing the indeterminacy inherent in contemporary artistic research, contributors are invited to articulate their own rules of engagement and reflect on their situated perspectives and privileges. This platform thus becomes a dynamic site for the emergence of new historiographical practices, fostering dialogic processes that resist closure and celebrate difference. Through these collective inquiries, the project seeks to expand the onto-epistemic and fabulative horizons of art histories.
